EDITING
The producers of 'White' used various editing techniques to build tension and suspense throughout the film. In the beginning of the film the boy is seen in the shower washing his hands and crying during a long scene. The long duration of this scene creates a slower pace and conveys intensity within the narrative. The duration of this scene also allows the audience to focus on aspects of the scene that may otherwise be missed.
There are also many transitions in the film.
There are also many transitions in the film.
The transitions in the film between scenes show that time is passing by. It also applies emphasis on a connection between what a character is thinking, remembering or dreaming about. In the scene where the boy is in the bathroom, the cuts and transitions aid in building tension.
SOUND
The sound used throughout the film was very aerie and provided a continued feeling of despair. The choice of sound in the film was most likely used in order to add dramatic effect to the emotional imagery chosen in the film. The scenes alternated between flashbacks and a present situation of the main character in the shower rubbing his hands and crying. In order to add effect to the transitions of the film, the music supervisors of the film chose an upbeat, dramatic noise in the film during the emotional parts where intensity increases and right as the intensity reaches its climax, the sound returns to the sound effects of water running during the main characters shower.
Mise En Scene & PROPS
The mise en scene and props used in the film were fairly basic in regards to the portrayal of modern or contemporary families. However, i noticed that the hair style that the protagonist wore in the film, covered a large portion of his face and sometimes his eyes. This is a common strategy used in film's to present a character in a depressed state of mind.
Asides from the hairstyle, the protagonist is wearing a grey shirt with a hoodie for the later part of the film, which insinuates that he is just a normal teenager, unfortunately going through a rough time in his life. Also, the dark colours showed through costume and props, contribute to a melancholy feeling within the production

Editing
The editing in the beginning of Mr.happy is very interesting. The film begins with the main protagonist in the film, displayed in a montage or series of shots which showcase his body language and facial expressions. This is done to immediately allow the audience to gain realization of the particular mind state that the protagonist is in. He is seen looking into a mirror, checking up on himself, also possibly letting the audience know that he is observing his current circumstances effect on his health and well-being.
